Let the Heartstrings Strum: Legendary 1970s Rock Band Unveils Their First Ballad

(Minneapolis, MN)  August 23, 2023 – Brace yourselves for an auditory journey that’ll tug at your heartstrings. Our favorite vintage rock mavens are back, and this time, they’re turning down the amps and turning up the soul with their debut ballad Take Me Back

In their unmistakable style that’s been the soundtrack to countless road trips, basement jam sessions, and epic air guitar battles, this 1970s-inspired rock band is unveiling their softer side, and we’re here for it!  Picture this: vintage gear meets heartfelt lyrics, and the result? A sonic masterpiece that bridges eras, bringing their signature sound to a whole new dimension. But don’t think for a second that they’ve left their rock ‘n’ roll roots behind. Oh no, dear readers, they’ve just added a new shade to their palette.  ‘I’m not one for syrupy love songs…so this isn’t one of them,’ Lyricist Kaity Heart remarks ‘But there’s nothing wrong with slowing it down and being more reflective.’

While the original song was written and composed in 2020, it wasn’t until they were tracking at Studio in the Country (same location where Kansas recorded ‘Carry On My Wayward Son’) that they added the lofty, piano-driven ending.

‘Every song has to be at least five minutes long,’ Keyboardist Al Berg jokes….. ‘And at some point when we were talking about iconic classic rock journeys, someone mentioned  the Derek and the Dominos classic, Layla, with its epic 4 minute-long ending.  Although the piano playing is excellent, I’ve personally  never really liked the Layla outro as I feel that it changes the song and is (literally) bolted on; that said, the idea of a piano heavy outro with guitar over the top felt like a good idea to try at some point in the studio.  When we were discussing the idea of a piano lead at the end of Take Me Back, I tried to keep the solo aligned with the overall emotional feel of the song which is very introspective.   However, it didn’t feel right to just end with the piano alone as the whole idea of the song is to “go back” to where you belong, which is playing music you love with your friends.  So, rather than end it alone, I tried pulling it into that heavy rock groove and it just naturally fell into place.’

So, dear music aficionados and press connoisseurs, mark your calendars for the release of this monumental ballad. It’s not just a song; it’s a journey through time, a collision of genres, and a testament to the enduring power of music.
