Born and raised in the southern suburbs of Minneapolis, Mikes Schmidt, was inspired by his father who played in the regional country rock band “Cactus Wine” and was further influenced after hearing the album “Appetite For Destruction” by “Guns N’ Roses”.
He started on a homemade drum set at the age of 9 and was given a real drum set later that year… also showing an interest in guitar, his dad taught him his first two chords and immediately wrote and recorded his first song.
A mostly self-taught musician he started his first rock band, “Crash Landing” at the age of 10, which went on for 17 years, later enjoying national college radio success with the release of the album “Thought Process”
During the last two decades, he has engineered out of his home studio, plays as Slash in the GN’R tribute band “Dust N’ Bones”, has played guitar and drums in several other rock bands, and teaches guitar lessons.
Kyle was born and raised small-town, central Minnesota. No seriously, a tiny town; not a single traffic light in town. Hailing from a musical family, he picked up his first set of drum sticks at age 9. By 15 he had formed his first band Bert’s Cuzzins (an 80’s hair metal tribute band) and started playing around backwoods bars in central Minnesota.
Kyle holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Music Production from the former McNally Smith College of Music. He runs a small project studio (INSIDE INSOMNIA PRODUCTIONS) out of his home in Waite Park and has released a few albums through digital retailers; “Suppressing Instincts” and “Inside My Insomnia.”
Kyle works full time for a business technology company as an Audio-Visual integrator. He spends his free time chilling with his dogs and sleeping.
Craig Holets starting playing upright and electric bass at the age of 9 in his school orchestra program and joined his first rock band at age 12.
After college, Craig supported October Records artist, Willie Wisely, on his award-winning and CMJ-charting albums touring across the USA and Canada. After leaving the band, Craig decided to pursue his passion as a mastering engineer at the highly-respected Original Sound Records. There he worked under Hollywood legend, Art Laboe, creator of the compilation album and the “Oldies but Goodies”. Craig’s return to Minneapolis brought him to the attention of the management team for Jesse Langseth, 13th place 2009 American Idol finisher and younger sister of Grammy winning blues guitarist, Jonny Lang. They quickly enlisted him as the core of her touring and recording band.
Currently, Craig splits his time running BassFuzz Mastering studio and playing and recording with a variety of local artists and bands on electric and upright bass.
Over the past 20 years you’ve been able to find Al “Ice” Berg on hundreds of stages throughout the upper Midwest and throughout the country. Ice has been playing keyboards since age 6, and whether he’s hauling a real Hammond organ to a gig, tuning up a clavinet, or pounding on an old upright piano, Ice has a passion for analog keyboards and their classic sounds. In addition to SFCL, he is the keyboardist in 3 Minute Hero and has played and/or recorded with dozens of artists.
Although at home you can often find him playing the sweet sounds of a grand piano or a Wurli, on most days his alter ego, Dr. Berg, takes over: a respected and award-winning scientist working to develop new drugs and improve patient care.
